On the way to the beach, we've stopped in Williamsburg, VA to help Margie celebrate her birthday. The drive here felt eternal. In fact it was about 12 hours, only 3 hours longer than it typically is without a 3-year-old and an 11-month-old. We'd packed up munchies for the girls - the baked, flavored tofu Sarah loves, bananas, yogurt, Annie's cheddar bunnies and graham bunnies. The kid-Clif bars. We munched on the way down and even stopped for lunch at T.G.I. Ruby Gardens or whatever. At around 7:50 PM the late lunch was wearing off and I began noshing on some cheddar bunnies Kate had earlier rejected.
Jeremiah and I were talking about how nice it would be if Annie made her bunny treats with REAL bunnies, and how the logo would have to change from a happy little bunny, paws out over the word "Annie's" to a wide-eyed, terrified bunny, partially out of frame, when we heard a sweet coo from the back seat. It was Kate.
"Um...hey, will you guys let me eat?" She asked. She so frequently doesn't want dinner at all, and we'd been eating all day, that we completely forgot that she's used to eating a real dinner at 6:00. We scrambled to find her something that would satisfy; she settled on a Clif bar. Once she was settled in with her food Jeremiah looked at me and slowly said "Worst parents ever".
