Oh soy oh soy!

It will probably not come as a big surprise that it isn't all that easy to get Kate & Sarah to eat their vegetables. Most recently, I've discovered that forcing them to choke down a vegetable-based appetizer while I prepare their mostly veggie-free dinner is the ticket. Kate likes baby carrots, raw and plain. Sarah likes both hummus and pesto, we've discovered, but although she dips her carrots in them, she is really only using the carrot as a spoon. I'd tried in the past to serve them edamame the way we enjoy it - sauteed in olive oil, out of the shell, with salt and sesame seeds. No go.

Then one day, as I pondered the veggie situation in the store I had a thought. I thought maybe, just maybe, the girls would enjoy eating edamame a la sushi restaurant appetizer - steamed in their shells and liberally sprinkled with kosher salt. To my delight - we have a winner!

Of course, little girls who finish off their vegetables (and plate of pasta that followed) get to eat the pinkalicious cupcakes they helped make!*

*Sadly, they only each got one cupcake. We had a few after dinner that night, I admit, but it was Lola, angry with us for not bringing her to brunch with us, who finished off the lot of them. Bad dog!

I'm glad I got my own pinkalicious cupcake before that bi-atch Lola ate the rest of 'em. Come to think of it, I think I ate two that night -- in your face Lola!!

Lola had 4, I had none. This morning she finished of the energy bars Lisa made. I love my dog.

It takes a lot of energy to break into the diaper pail and scatter urine and feces-soaked diapers all over the girls' room and THEN still have the stamina to eat some furniture and poop on a rug. I can see why she'd want to carbo-load for her day's activities.

Next time you should make green brownies (if you know what I mean) and don't tell Lola what they are- just make sure you don't feed any to the kids. That way when she eats them all, she'll just sit in front of the window and giggle. Make sure to leave plenty of water out for her.

...and set up the TiVo with a Scooby-Doo marathon.

If you're going to leave Scooby-Doo on for her, then make her a really tall sandwich with everything then tie it down with a long string so she can fit it in her mouth in one bite.

Sounds like SOMEbody has already gotten into the green brownies Aunt So-So.

Okay so I have to comment on the "Word Verification" that your blog requires in order for me to leave a comment. The other Blogger sites that I read don't require it, so I figure it much just be your own little game. And I like to play along; I like to guess what the definition of the "word" might be. Like today's previous word was "euxmpu". My guess is: Etymology French, noun - poopy water.

The one that came up right now is much harder what with no vowels and all; it is "xndnn". But they can't call it "Word Verification" if it's not a word so it must mean something...

Most of the words are Welsh, from what I can tell. I don't speak that language but as I recall it looks like English but refuses to employ vowels in most situations.
