Shark Attack
Tonight Princess Kate and her sister Sarah (who we're told is not a princess despite her blood relation to Princess Kate) arrived home hungry and in the mood for some videos. You would probably expect Princess Kate to request a princess-related movie after dinner, I mean, if you knew her. Enchanted, perhaps? Or maybe one of those computer animated Barbie movies that make me want to impale myself on the nearest pointy thing? Cinderella? No, not Cinderella, but Princess Kate would like to don her Cinderella dress. No, to all of the above. Princess Kate would very much like to watch Fishing With John. Specifically, the first episode in which John Lurie and Jim Jarmusch catch a shark. Princesses, you see, have a real appreciation for parodies of fishing shows.

Her favorite part is where Jim is attempting to bait the shark with a giant hunk of cheese and John is beside him, at the ready with a pistol. I think it's good for her to see that they don't actually catch the shark in this fashion.
I love that story...
Just don't her see the one where he's ice fishing with,...um, Willem Dafoe I think. If she thinks Annie is sad, she'll HATE the ending to that one.

I'm so glad that was a parody. I thought it was serious, and I thought it was stupid, but Jeremiah seemed to really like it. I'm also surprised that she wanted to watch it again considering she was so scared of the shark. Huh.
The genius of the show is in its subtly.
