We have floors! We have siding!

The floors are completed in the addition. This is very exciting, it makes it look like, you know, house. The down side is that I don't like the color I chose for the bedroom, laundry room, hall and closet. We have 5 gallons of it. Friday evening I came home to find the floors finished. I sat down in the bedroom, as I often do, to stare at the place. I like the floors but I kept thinking "my bedroom looks pink in the light of the setting sun". I had aimed for a taupe that appears slightly purplish in certain lights and everything is turning out all wrong!

The old siding on our house was rotting. We decided to go ahead and do the whole house since the siding guys were already out here.

The kitchen is still in limbo. We can't find the wood counter tops we want for the island. It's bringing me down, man. Nevertheless, we managed a small soiree in belated honor of Jeremiah's birthday. Poor Jeremiah decided he'd like to smoke up a big ol' Boston butt. This meant he was trapped at home all day. We had a great time last night (I forgot to take a single photograph, you'll just have to take my word for it) but by the time we woke up this morning, and I offered to make French toast, Jeremiah sounded pretty desperate when he said "I'd like to go buy the bread!" Still, that was some damn fine pig we ate last night.

Because I started drinking at 4:30, thinking we'd be eating dinner around 5 or so, and then it took another 2 and 1/2 hours for the pork to hit 190 degrees, I was far too drunk to get the girls to bed on time at 7:30. We ended up letting them stay up with us until nearly 9PM. Despite my greatest hopes, this late lights out did not encourage them to sleep in. Nay. We heard the thump thump stomp of little feet at 6:38AM and they were in our bed with us before 7:15. Sarah pulled on my hand and with her pacifier still in her mouth, managed to say "get up, mommy!" over and over while I groaned. I felt like Auntie Mame.

As long as Sarah doesn't hang her expensive dress on a wire hanger, everything will be fine with the two of you. Also, the Pepsi boys better not try to f*** with you.

I smoked up a big old Boston butt today too, and I didn't get anything else done either. So we're not so different you and I.
