Major milestone requires shoe purchase

Sarah has taken her first steps...and many more since then. Yes, while frolicking in the giant gazebo in the square yesterday (the fountain is not running these days due to our horrible drought so instead of cooling off in the mist, Kate ran circles in the bandstand until she became so dizzy she turned a sort of grayish hue), Sarah stood up and took a solid 3 steps. Alas, Jeremiah had run over to the music store to trade in a couple CDs and in so doing, missed this momentous event. No matter, a total stranger to whom English was very foreign was there with his toddler son to witness it. To my mind, neither he nor his son seemed appropriately excited. Immediately after taking these steps Sarah, probably tuckered out by the exertion, plopped down, picked up Kate's water cup and figured out how to use the straw. Big day.

The day they start walking is always so cool! I'm going to celebrate by getting a pair of shoes for myself.

This is great news!

But, are you telling me you did not have your camera at the ready, just in case?

Yay new shoes! It's never too early to start the habit.

New shoes to celebrate first steps is good. Shouldn't you also get a jumbo margarita to celebrate the straw usage?

You drink your margaritas with a straw? Doesn't that slow you down a lot?

Yay, Sarah! Target has some really cute white leather T-strap wedges for only $18.99. . . . Your mom can wear them for you!
