Hair apparent

Yesterday while at Target I innocently wandered into the hair accessory aisle in search of a new brush for Kate. The one she's had for 2 and 1/2 years is falling apart. I found a brush that was just the right size straight away and then I saw an irresistible item. There, in soft, squishy bright pink and purple, were those curlers...
Kate has all that hair, I thought. I've brushed it. I've braided it. I've put it in ponytails. The next logical step is to curl it. And she'll love the pink and purple. So I bought them. And I covered her wet head with them while she ate a banana and sang songs. And she did love it. She sat reasonably still and handed me each roller as I asked for it.

The end result was photographed only on Steve & Joy's camera and they've dashed away for the next 2 days and won't be emailing them to me any time before Wednesday, so you'll just have to wait to see how it turned out.

While I was rolling up Kate's hair, Joy gave Sarah her first haircut. I've been avoiding it, not wanting to stick her with bangs (I hated the trauma of growing out my bangs). But really, the baby mullet was getting out of control. Sarah did not take to having her hair cut like she did to swimming.

Oh, my god that one tear in the final photo! Where do I send my check?

Isn't it priceless? ...For just the cost of a cup of coffee a day, you can provide a middle class kid in Atlanta with enough water drink and wash her hands for that day...
